January 9, 2003 3:00 am
------------------------------
** Demise of the Classic/Velious Interface **

Over the last six months we have been keeping the Classic EverQuest interface hostage in a closet and have been beating it with dead fish while rolling out bigger, better bugs (built-in MP3 player, item links, compass, enhanced crashing to desk top, crashing our crash interface, and crashing cars). However, with the release of some of the new bugs we have introduced with today's patch, we think we have MORE than enough new areas to introduce crashes and bugs without the old Ghetto Interface. As of today, we will make the "Old" Interface play our other game, Tanerous, until it dies of it.

If anyone has a problem with this, please submit feedback to /harharharwecanthearyou.

** EQ in a Window **

EverQuest can now be run in a window. We realize that many of you were already doing this, and with better software, but hey...at least we're not charging you for this feature, fools!

It is important to note a few things: We asked Justsomedude to PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE show us how to do it, but he said "No!". He will be dealt with later, in a very nasty manner (Tanerous, anyone? MUhahahaha!) Running the game in a window may format your drive, empty your bank account, or cause herpes. We are not exactly sure what it does because Billy's mom said he had school in the morning and he had to take a shower and go to bed. Hopefully he can do a bit more code during Snack or Recess tomorrow.

** Songs Window **

We have added a new window to the interface along with new game functionality. We were trying to get this mother to work, but somehow made Shaman DOTS into healing spells. /boggle

How did we do that? heh.. /shrug

- Some magical effects on Planar class armor have been altered.

* Anything cool that took 80+ people to get will now cast "Summon Food".

* Warrior gear will not cast a self-only "Breeze" spell.

* Rouge Pants will cast "Canabalize".

* All WIS caster gear will cast "Spin the Bottle".

* Wizard and Enchanter Robes have been given "Sacrifice". We figured this will save time.

- Fixed a bug that was causing a few Planes of Power NPCs to take too long to respawn. Now they just won't spawn at all. Easy fix!
- Wu's Attack should now be well and truly broken. Grats to the Dev team for putting this in line with our "Bug Balancing" vision!

- Incoming damage now interacts with your hit points. Or wait...we actually had that working right. Never mind =P Heh!

- Pact of Shadow and Shadow Compact will once again heal player characters. Nice job pointing this out to us =/ Whiners.

- Sending special characters (such as < and ") via EQIM will no longer freeze the game. Now it will just reset your PC.

- Fixed (but did not rename) the Broken Golem. He should no longer be hated in Fear, just feared...sorry it took so long. Ok ok ok, no we're not.

** User Interface File Changes **

AHHH ha ha hah ah! You thought we were really gonna tell you! Hahahahah!

** Misc Stuff **

We have all been busy as hell playing "Mech Assault" on XBox, so we have not bothered to read any feedback or e-mail. BUT KEEP SENDING IT! We sell your e-mail address to several different companies for Phat Lewt and we're trying to get enough money so we can all have an XBox and a copy of "Steel Batalion" 'cause that controller looks SWEEEET! /drool

- The Everquest Team "AKA Your Electronic Crack Dealer"

------------------------------------------------
Just FYI, this is a joke =P Big round of applause for the EQ Dev Team for getting all these new features rolled out on a 5 year old engine (really!!) That must have taken quite a bit of technical song and dance, and lots of head aches
GREAT JOB EQ!! Thanks for keeping me entertained, and out of trouble, for 3 great years.
-------------------------------------------------
Ghumb Inyourway aka Torsten

A small mind is a tidy mind...
No, really, magic pajamas were always intended to give the wearer greater protection than that of half inch thick steel plate. really. whaddaya mean monks are unbalanced?
